Do you reunite with your spouse in heaven?
Yes to both. The reunion will take place, but not as husband and wife. People will not be married to each other. They will be like the angels in heaven” (Matthew 22:30).
Are there marriages in heaven?
Many Christians rely on Matthew 22:30, in which Jesus tells a group of questioners, “At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven.” These marriages are thought to be eternal and survive into the afterlife.
Does the Bible say we will know our loved ones in Heaven?
The angels of heaven surely know and recognize each other; some are even mentioned by name in the Bible. It is without doubt that we will recognize our friends and loved ones in heaven. None of us can fathom exactly how, but we know that we will. All our questions will be answered when that time comes.
Will we be reunited with our loved ones in Heaven?
Nowhere does the Bible say we won’t be reunited with our loved ones in heaven, and in fact it teaches the opposite. It is true that the institution of marriage was ordained by God only for this life, and not for heaven. The reason is because in heaven we will never die, and therefore marriage will no longer be necessary to carry on the human race.
Will we know our loved ones in Heaven?
There are several indications in Scripture that we will maintain our identity in heaven and, thus, be recognizable to our loved ones (and they to us). For example, Jesus makes it a point in Matthew 22:31-32 that Abraham, Isaac and Jacob were alive and existing as individuals by those names.
Will believers recognize each other in Heaven?
While there is no specific biblical reference that explicitly states that we will recognize our loved ones in heaven , the Bible shows us that we will know each other more fully than we do now. The Apostle Paul declared, “Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known” (1 Corinthians 13:12).
